The value of naming your niche

Many consultants are scared to niche down... but what happens when you actually take the leap? Consultants, the other day this popped up in my feed: “Stars of The Princess Bride: Where Are They Now?”

I clicked on it (obviously). I mean, who wouldn’t want to see what Princess Buttercup or Westley or Miracle Max has been up to? The Princess Bride was my absolute favorite movie as a kid, and my sister and I still quote random lines to each other.

But the thing is, I know what they’ve been up to. 

I watched Robin Wright as Claire Underwood in House of Cards; I’ve caught Cary Elwes in things here and there and recently saw him in a bad Christmas movie (that my wife wanted to watch, I promise). And I assume Billy Crystal is simply being funny and cashing royalties checks these days.

But I think we all have a mild curiosity about what’s become of people since they first came into our lives.

(I mean, raise your hand if you’ve ever checked out someone from high school on Facebook.)

That’s why I’m so excited that, in this podcast episode, you get to meet someone who was on an early episode talking about a major struggle in her business and who’s back to share what’s happened since she overcame it.

Back in “Episode 6: Your Clients Want To Be Understood, Too,” Paulette was struggling with her value-based messaging. And after months of work and sleepless nights, she still couldn’t nail a value statement that clearly illustrated the value she brought her clients.

Now, over a year later, she has a value statement she absolutely loves, and her clients do too: since she was able to articulate her value, her business has been blowing up.

Now she’s back to talk about how she got there and share some advice with you.
